Description

In the early 60's, the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) drew large crowds of dedicated enthusiasts. And a favorite class was the Super Stock, allowing limited engine and chassis modifications. Chrysler went all out with their Max Wedge V8, with twin 4 barrel carburetors, requiring airplane fuel, and were expensive to own, with most being used by Factory Race Teams. This is where the streetable, cost effective version of this 426 engine, called the Commando 426, with a single 4 barrel carburetor, became available. And with nearly the same performance as the Max Wedge! It was dubbed the "street wedge" by many fans.

And this '64 Savoy, by Plymouth, was ordered "special" with this 365 horsepower power plant, and the original Mopar 4-speed manual floor shift transmission. In the world of street racing and local drag strips, it was truly a "sleeper", as it came with no radio, no heater core, no air conditioning, no power steering, a bench seat. Tiny tires on the front, with Mag Wheels, and big wide tires on steel rims on the rear, were added to "enhance" the look! This collector has under 75,000 miles on it.

For any true "Mopar" lover, and especially from the 60's era, this extremely rare find is one to add to your collection or garage today. We have an Authentication Report on hand, documenting the facts about this unique 2 door sedan, old style street legal Drag Car. From a black exterior, to a light blue interior, this car is ready to perform, or simply be a show stopper, with all that it has to offer.

We are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MST, and can be reached at 1-520-900-7586 to set up an appointment. We also have financing options available. For a pleasant, fun Buying Experience, come deal with Crown Concepts. It will be worth your time.
