My all time favorite Corvette was my 66 Big block coupe that we drug out of a corrugated shed on the Paiute Indian reservation in Northern Nevada…. I wanted to make that car Evil Mean and Nasty… We did just that , we set it up with a 427 bored 60 over balanced and blueprinted, special Pistons, Rods, Crank even mounted a B/M low profile blower on that bad boy … Ran it on an engine Dyno at 650 horse and 700 ft lbs of torque, It was a Monster!!!! That car was originally a 427 /425 horsepower from the factory and was a Monster from the very day it was born kind of like Godzilla, ( but American) When you kicked it it went crazy ..All hell broke loose and you never really knew which way the ass was going to swing…... God forbid that you didn't have the windshield pointed in the right direction when you pulled the trigger…. This was pure unadulterated ,loud, brutal, horsepower exploding beneath the hood of the car, no telling what the outcome may have been had you lost your nerve or your focus….

Now Fast Forward……. It's 2014 and the Corvette is still the king of the sports cars… Even the base Corvette is rated at 455 horsepower. For an old cave man like myself this car is almost confusing …..The dash is a direct descendant of Captain Kirk's Starship Enterprise . It will tell you when you are making a mistake..It will stop your tires from burning, it will tell you when you're lost … You don't even have to pass a driver's test to make this car go like hell….. It no longer takes a MAN to maintain control of the Beasties that we unleash from beneath the hood, because the Beasties have all morphed into Well mannered Power Rangers ….Not to say they aren't fast , because they are, Super Fast …. It is like the difference between a Sledge hammer and a Scalpel or a Ninja and a Caveman……
When I sit in this new time machine that will just simply beam you to the end of the quarter mile and give you your E/T, I know that I am truly a Dinosaur…
